WATER SOFTENER INSTALL

*This service is provided in conjunction with the Home Depot Home Services.

What is it?

Water Softeners are substances used to reduce the hardness of water and/or a device that monitors and reduces the hardness of water. Chemical compounds can be added to hard water to soften if, as by precipitating out the minerals found in the water. This process can happen in a tank or other container in which water is filtered through various chemicals or ion exchange media for softening. Certain minerals found in water, such as Magnesium, Calcium, and Iron can be harmful to your body in consistent doses over time. Hard water comes from aquifers and other underground sources that collect dissolved minerals from rock-particularly Calcium, Carbonate, and Manganese. These minerals give water undesirable characteristics that collectively are dubbed “hardness”. The severity of hardness is measured by grains (of mineral) per gallon (GPG) or in some cases, by parts per million (PPM).

Why do you need it?

  • Would you like to have cleaner, pure water?
  • Would you like your water to be free of minerals and other harmful substances?
  • Would you like to extend the life of your water using appliances?

Hard water is less of an issue of health than one of potential expense. Many of the problems created by hard water are hidden until some type of malfunction occurs in your home’s plumbing system or in water using appliances. Eighty-five (85%) of American homes have problems with hard water; so hard water is a familiar reality for millions of Americans. Water Softeners are considered the first step in improving the quality of water used in your home. If used along with Carbon Filters and Reverse Osmosis Distillation, you can be on your way to having perfectly pure water. Having a water softening system will eliminate the problems of scale build-up inside your pipes, water heater, and other water using appliances. This will extend the life span of your water using appliances and save you a tremendous amount of money on replacement and repair costs.

How is it done?

A typical water softener installation begins with the installation of a water softener loop. This enables your system to soften and/or filter all or certain areas within your plumbing distribution system. This also enables you to bypass the water softening system at any time to make repairs and/or changes to your water softening system less difficult. If there is already a water softening loop in place, there is no need to run a new one. We will simply retrofit the existing water softening loop to the specifications of the water softening system that is being installed. At this point, the complete water softening system will be connected to your existing plumbing per manufacturers’ specifications and all state and local plumbing codes.
